3DEXPERIENCE World 2021 Wrap Up

Friday February 26, 2021 at 4:21pm
As with all global launches of this scale, this year’s 3DEXPERIENCE World was switched to an all-virtual experience due to the pandemic. What this prompted though, was a truly immersive virtual event. Attendees from wherever they were in the world, were able to participate in all areas associated with the physical event. Below, we give you a recap of the three days. All the content is still available, login/register to watch the sessions on-demand.

Day One

There were some exciting announcements made on day one of 3DEXPERIENCE World. During the general session, it was announced that there was an opportunity to get certified with free certification exams. Those who attended were able to get up to 17 different SOLIDWORKS certifications and five for the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

Next up we heard from Bernard Charles, vice chairman and CEO of Dassault Systemes, who provided real examples of customers who are creating sustainable innovations to help solve big problems. Gian Paolo Bassi, CEO of SOLIDWORKS, took to the stage to chat to us about four companies that are using the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform to streamline their collaboration.

The morning then wrapped up with a speech from Duncan Wardle, former head of Innovation and Creativity at Disney. He explained the current obstacles that companies go through in the development process and he took the time to show his innovative ways to demonstrate what is needed to overcome these barriers.

Day Two

The general session on day two kicked off with a discussion about the transformation from product to experiences. This session along with the deep-dive domain sessions provided a great insight into how the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform allows you to connect the people, apps, and real-time data from every aspect of your business to increase productivity. Some examples were provided by the R&D team as well as compelling testimonials from a wide range of companies that are now using the power of the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform. Robotics company, Square Robots, explained how they have been able to sharpen their competitive edge by pushing boundaries of design, engineering and collaboration by using the tools provided in the 3DEXPERIENCE portfolio.

Keynote speaker, Frank Stephenson, a designer who has previously been lead design director at major carmakers took to the virtual stage. He discussed how to reduce development cycles, how he uses new and evolving design tools and the need to maintain the ‘human link’ when designing products.

After the general session we then took a deep dive into specific product areas:

Product Excellence through Simulation: In this session, it was highlighted that it is important to assess the performance of your product earlier by using a simulation-driven design process. The demonstrations shown revealed the scalable, connected, and powerful SIMULIA solutions you can add to your SOLIDWORKS design process.

Hassle-Free Data Management: This deep dive consisted of interviews with three different customers who are discovering the power of the cloud to store their data without the traditional ways of managing it locally. They also explained how effective data management is critical to product development.

Future of Design and Manufacturing: In this session, the Titans of CNC joined the Product Introduction team to share a story about an organisation that was able to complete a project within an extremely tight deadline with safe and secure collaboration using SOLIDWORKS and the powerful 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.

Day Three

In the final general session, we heard from users across the SOLIDWORKS community aiming to make a lasting contribution that would benefit all. From students to directors, everyone came together to share how they leverage SOLIDWORKS to create innovative products to help in the current unprecedented times.

After this discussion Matt Carney and Tej Matel two SOLIDWORKS users, shared their stories on how they leveraged SOLIDWORKS and the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform to help in these unprecedented times. Matt used the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform to connect hundreds of engineers to help develop open-source face mask designs that everyone could help improve. Tej addressed the need for better information sharing with all the carious tests being used to diagnose COVID-19.
