Rapid Sketch- you may have seen it, but perhaps haven't clicked it. It is one of the last icons on the Sketch toolbar when part modelling, and has been there for a couple of years.
Without having any exposure on our training courses, it is one of those features you will have to explore for yourself, but read on to understand the function and benefits of the Rapid Sketch feature.
This tool allows you to sketch on multiple faces without having to keep opening and closing sketches. You can simply just hover over the next face that would like to sketch on and then carry on sketching on a different face. SOLIDWORKS will highlight the face in grey to show you where your new sketch will be placed and you just continue on sketching as normal (as shown below).
Once you have finished sketching you will notice that SOLIDWORKS has created a new sketch for each time you started to sketch on a different face. These can then be used as normal to then complete extrusions or any other feature you wish to create.
So why not give it a go!
