Image content is the key deliverable in 3DVIA Composer, the views you set up of your projects need to remain consistent whilst properties of the actors can often change dramatically.
View creation is obviously very easy in 3DVIA and makes your Technical Communications easy to create and manage but sometimes when you have your view set up, some changes to the actors (both geometry and collaboration) require zooming in/out, rotating and then any of the selection processes. Users can then find it difficult to return to their original viewpoint, so below I would like to show you a couple of my top camera view tips:
1. Whenever starting a new project in 3DVIA the first step to follow would be to always add a default view. This will serve as a useful reference to restore all actor properties to their neutral state. Use additional views for all property modifications
Create the first image with all neutral properties, use “create view” or “ctrl-e”. Rename this view “default”
2. “Create Camera View” is a great way to save only the viewpoint of a view and none of the actor properties. This means you can return to your original viewpoint without losing any changes to the actor properties.
I recommend you name the camera view as the view name + a suffix such as “camera”
Follow these steps for each view you create and your view tab should look something like this:
After you have altered any actors and wish to return to the viewpoint you can simply drag
and drop the camera view into the scene, property changes will be kept
Just a quick tip but one that will improve your workflow and save you time and rework. More 3DVIA tips to follow in future blogs….
