After 3 very successful events across the country, our final customer development event for 2019 will focus on Industry 4.0
If you are up to date with industry news then you may have come across the term Industry 4.0 along with many others such as; Internet of things, Additive Manufacturing, Smart Factories, and Platform Engineering but with this event we hope to clear a number of these up and demystify the whole concept. Let’s learn together!
Other people reading this may thinking ‘what’s that all about?’ and if that’s the case then don’t miss out on this opportunity come along to find out!
• How does this effect you?
• How can you make an impact on this within your business?
• What is my CAD software capable of?
• Do I need new skills?
There are many aspects to Industry 4.0 but rest assured we at Solid Solutions and SOLIDWORKS are here to help.
In brief let us introduce you to:
Platform Engineering/Cloud Platforms:
Enable your teams to collaborate online quickly and easily so you can share content directly with members of your organization throughout the design process in real-time.
Internet of Things – IOT:
The networking and connectivity of smart devices to enable data collection and exchange. IOT is the extension of Internet connectivity into physical devices and everyday objects. Embedded can communicate and interact with others over the Internet, and they can be remotely monitored and controlled
Additive Manufacturing:
Initially known as Rapid Prototyping, AM has matured into a disruptive technology. Designs unachievable by any other method are now possible, offering new levels of complexity and performance. Additive manufacturing (AM), or 3D printing, is increasingly shifting how industrial companies approach the manufacturing process. The ability to fabricate complex shapes with an increasingly wide variety of materials gives designers an enormous amount of design freedom while saving significant time and money in the development process—something that appeals to every industrial manufacturer.
Smart Factories:
The defining characteristics of the Smart Factory are visibility, connectivity and autonomy. Factories have long relied on automation, but Smart Factories take this concept much further and are able to run without much human intervention. Through the use of modern technologies, the smart factory systems can learn and adapt in near real time or real time, enabling factories that are far more flexible than those of the past
Simulation (Topology):
In simple terms, a topology study uses algorithms to run a design optimization loop to generate the best possible shape based on the information you specify, such as loads, constraints, boundary conditions, and manufacturing controls.
So instead of spending time creating a model and parametrically changing the size and shape you can use the topology-optimized model as a starting point or reference, saving you time whilst improving performance.
AR and VR Technology:
SOLIDWORKS XR encompasses workflows related to Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR). We’ve developed these new workflows to help establish more design confidence, and deliver a better overall final product in a shorter amount of time. Just imagine exploring design variations of your CAD model, overlaid on your conference room table top, right next to last year’s model you’re replacing using Augmented Reality (AR)! That’s the power of SOLIDWORKS XR, helping you experience and explore your design at 1:1 scale.
Also at the event you will be able to interact with the Additive Manufacturing partners of our sister company Solid Print 3D, get your hands (and head) on AR and VR technology to try them for yourself and learn all about our foray in the world of Red Bull Soap Box’s!
