Description
Increase your sphere of influence and knowledg.
An enthusiastic Mechanical Design Engineer with several years’ experience working in precision manufacturing is sought to work in a dynamic environment of motion control. You will design test rigs to simulate motion ranging from earthquakes through to high frequency displacements to exert racetrack forces onto Formula 1 cars.
We are proud of our 60-year heritage providing Blue Chip companies and Research Institutions with advanced test systems used to evaluate product performance, ranging from, durability of vehicle suspension systems, integrity of nuclear components through to survivability of suspension bridge structures.
Being a turnkey provider of the whole test system, you will join the Mechanical design team and interact with specialists covering control electronic hardware/software, and hydraulic systems. Our test rigs are impressively large for heavy goods vehicles and to integrate your designs into specially built test laboratories you will need good communication skills to build relationships with our clients’ architects and program managers, attending site meetings, maybe abroad, to achieve successful installations.
The successful candidate will have an exceptional knowledge of 3D CAD preferably a user of SolidWorks combined with experience of designing and producing manufacturing drawings of mechanisms incorporating precision components, possibly bearings or gears or linear actuators.
Knowledge in hydraulic/pneumatic systems including actuators and / or working with high pressure equipment, fluid seals would be desirable.
An appreciation of ‘Designing Welded Structures’ and ‘Design for Manufacturing and Assembly,’ would be a bonus.
Our systems possess the capacity to exert both high forces and velocities, so you will have the opportunity to validate the structural integrity of your designs using FEA techniques to avoid resonance or overloading. Validation will also broaden to mitigate safety risks by conducting methodical risk analysis to demonstrate your designs comply with safety legislation, such as, The Supply of Machinery (Safety) Regulations to permit ‘CE’ or ‘UKCA’ certification.
We would like to hear from you if you have this background and want to work in a unique business providing challenging design problems, combined with the opportunity to harness many technologies to create our precision test systems.
